Greetings Green People, it is your London Bag Lady here.

Guess what!!
San Fransisco's non bio plastic bag ban is now in place. So that adds to the list of Modbury, Leaf Rapids (North America), South Africa, Bombay (after finding in the flood the bags block all the drains which resulted in such loss of human life), Malta, Bhutan, the few towns in Australia and Africa , and many more, that have made the move to go 'Bag Free'. Not to mention Hong Kong and 'No Plastic Bag Day' once a month, Beijing's 'Bye bye throw away culture week' and countless other countries making an international statement. Ok ,so the Uk has taken some monumental steps in the last 6-12 months but we still have a way to go. Pat on the back so far!! Some of these countries are giving out big fines to shop owners and shoppers if you are caught using plastic bags. Ok this is extreme when we are all capable of doing a good thing. Whatever works i say.
So what is taking us so long, where are all our plastic bag free towns in the Uk?? Modbury being the example to follow! There is the on going debate of what bags we should use instead. Of course we support our Go Green Bags but let me tell you why. We have looked at getting in Cotton bags but we were distressed by the pollution the cotton industry is responsible for. Not to mention the use of water in drought stricken areas of farming. Organic cotton would be an option though it still comes with issues of water use and price and in some cases inappropriate labour. Yes the Go Green Bags are a petroleum product and we do not debate that however it allows us to use fewer, reuse and the recycling process is, by far, more energy efficient. They are economical and washable therefore hygienic without little crawlies. They allow each of us to take part in this campaign to rid the country of single use plastic bags. On average we use 10 for 1 weeks shopping at the grocery store. I only need 4 for the same amount of groceries. As for paper bags, the recycling process still uses our energy sources and hell of a lot of it. Paper bags can only be reused so many times and they are kaput!! (Technical term)
Why don't you as an individual make a move, design a bag, order 1000 to start and sell them on to you fellow community. Start your town moving into he right direction.
Ciao Jodie
In order to spread these Go Green Bags to all part of the UK we need Agents to promote the sale of the bags to Farm Shops, Farmer's Markets, and general shops.
An Agency Agreement will be available to suitable persons who wish to promote the use of a recyclable shopping bag instead of single use polyethylene supermarket style bags, who wish to help to change shopping habits.
The theory is that we can combine orders; this will speed up the frequency of the orders and allow traders who wish for own logo bags to get them far faster than we can manage at the moment. This will allow the agent to get started quickly and be able to penetrate the market far faster.
What is needed is somebody who cares about the environment, who has commitment to Farm Shops, Farmer's Markets and small local shops in their area. You should have several mornings or afternoons available, an outgoing personality and be able to talk to owners and traders.
Go Green Bags will supply the standard Go Green Bag both as samples and if you wish for personal retail sales.
For Own Logo Bags we will follow up on sales leads provide by the Agent.
Full instructions on getting started plus detailed databases are available for each area.
A commission on each and every bag that is sold will be paid.
Send email for full description and documentation to bagman@gogreenbags.com or please contact the Bagman on telephone 01333 451401 for more information and further discussions.
